Donkey Kong
Reviewed by Greasyhead
The Donkey Kong craze started in the 80's, along with many other
"crazes". It was on some arcade machine. Instead of saving princess
Toadstool, Mario saves Pauline. Mario chases Donkey into many different
worlds. Then came the game boy version. It was pretty much the same.
But portable!
Graphics 9 out of 10
The crispieness of Mario's mustache, the bold and visible "Oil" on exploding
oil tanks. What I'm trying to say is, the graphics are plain and simple.
Pretty awesome for game boy.
Music and Sound 6 out of 10
The sound is not good. The sound of mario walking is totally dumb.
And you have to put up with it whenever you walk. But don't turn the
sound down! You'll miss some very important "signal sounds" if you
will. These sounds give you a signal to do a jump, a backflip, a handstand,
a handstand jump, or a handstand double jump. The configurations for
each of these are in the manual. Just don't turn it up full blast, ok?
Game Challenge 9 out of 10
Some stages are easy, some are hard. But most of them are hard. Some
are really hard. You must avoid all little brothers/sisters at this time.
DON'T FORGET TO SAVE IT. It's totally devastating when you do. Donkey
always makes it hard for you. He always throws you, kills you etc. Oh,
and for all of that challenge, don't expect a good ending.
Game Play-Fun 8 out of 10
A fun, addictive game. Yet challenging. You may grow bored of the
sound. But the challenge ruins all the fun. But without challenge,
this game wouldn't be so cool!
Frustration
My only frustrations are the easy levels with something so obvious
sticking right in front of your nose, and you thought you'd never beat
the stage. And the sound.
Replayability 5 out of 10
The fun wares off. No extras or anything. This game stinks after you beat it.
Game Value 8 out of 10
For $20.00, I think it's worth it. It takes you long enough to beat it.
Overall 8 out of 10
A fun, challenging game with no replay value and dumb sound.
