Castlevania Legends
Reviewed by Jairin
This game is the most recent addition to the Game Boy Castlevania lineup.
Taking the role of Sonjia Belmont (yes, a GIRL), you whip your way through
six stages to face the evil Count Dracula. This game is actually the prequel
to the Castlevania series and sheds light on some it. If you are a Castlevania
fan and have not played this game, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???
Graphics 9 out of 10
The graphics in this game are pretty standard fare Castlevania games,
meaning that they are good of course. Konami has done an excellent job at
putting great visuals in it's Castlevania games and this one is no exception.
The enemies are usually pretty well detailed and the heroine looks heroic.
(Watch when you activate Burning Power). The conversation scenes look
AWESOME!!! The background is very well done. I hear that the game was not
designed to take advantage of the Game boy Colors capabilities, but you'll
have to see for yourself since I have only played it on Game boy Classic.
Music and Sound 10 out of 10
What can I say but WOW! I am especially blown away by the music in
the conversation scenes. Listen and FEEL that bass! The Castlevania
games are known for their good music.
Game Challenge 6 out of 10
I borrowed this game from my friend at about 5 PM and beat it at about
11 PM. Easy game. This was one the Light Mode. I started playing the
game again, on the Standard Mode. Did not beat it, but still got pretty
far in a little time. If you've had experience with the Castlevania games,
you will do well with this one. I recommend saving your "Burning Power"
until you reach the boss. Then let em have it.
Game Play-Fun 7 out of 10
Well, it is kind of fun being able to beat a game in one evening. A real
confidence booster. Once again, if you have played other Castlevania
games, you've kind of played this one as well.
Frustration
This game is not frustrating. The continue points are many and you get
infinite continues. It's not hard to learn the pattern of the enemies and the
bosses are easy if you use your "Burning Power" on them.
Replayability 6 out of 10
Play through it once and that's about it. Let it sit on the shelf a week or
two until you get that urge to kick some more Dracula behind. The game
is the same each time.
Game Value 8 out of 10
The graphics and sound and story of this game make it a nice addition
to any Game boy collection. This game is worth it.
