Graphics: The graphics are surprisingly good. They are actually better
than the NES' because there is more detail in the characters and things
just look better (whereas in the NES version the color scheme was way
too bright). People look a bit more real on top of that.
Sound: The music in this game was also done pretty well, except in the
rooms with the super computer. In that room, it's just one note, so it
gets annoying. Luckily, you don't have to spend a lot of time in those places.
Anyway, sound effects were also done pretty well, though not as good as the music.
Gameplay: A really fun sidescroller that has many aspects that set it aside
from the rest. One of these reasons is your character doesn't jump. Instead,
he has a grappling hook that he can use to swing up or around beams. You
can also use it jump on people and bop them on top of the head. Another
reason is that it's pretty much nonlinear. You can go to one of sixteen
different levels in order to collect new items to use in other levels, until
you win the game. It's a very fun game that many people think of as a classic.
Personally, I like the GB version the best.
Hardness factor: This game can get very hard. When you're beating bosses,
there are enemies that come at you from every direction. Also, you have to
learn the controls quickly in order to survive.
Overall: 7.5 out of 10. This game is a must get, either for the Gameboy or
for the Nintendo. It was done incredibly well and is fun. However, it's a
little long and some of the levels are really similar to others, so you must
have just a little patience.
