White block trick

Sent in by Danielle L. This tip is kind of pointless (except when used to get the first warp whistle) but its kind of fun. Any time you see big a white block, jump up on it and press down until you fall through, you'll be able to run behind stuff and be invisible, but you can still get hit when you're out in the open. This is a good trick to use to sneak up on enemies.

3 extra lives

Sent in by LE On Level 8-1 if you run and fly right at the beginning of the board, and then fly (obviously a tail is needed) to the pipe and go in there are 3 extra lives, and you come out half way through the board!!

Free Frog suit

Sent in by Buzard245 in level 3-9, when you go into the water part, go all the way to the left. Go down the last pipe. Just when you come out of the pipe, push the right arrow on the control pad. This will make you land on a platform where there is a giant question block, like the ones Tanooki suits come out of. Hit it and grab the frog suit. Jump down and go out the pipe.

Tanookie Suit tip

With the Tanookie Suit you are fire proof, can stomp on enemies in the water, and make it through small gaps on the platforms, when you are a statue.

How to get a Treasure Ship

To get a Treasure Ship to appear on Worlds 1, 3, 5, or 6, collect a number of coins that is a multiple of 11, make the tens digit in your score match the multiple of 11, and stop the clock on an even number. For example, 77 coins, score 827,070, time is 164 when you get the card.

Warp to World 8

If you use a whistle at the warp zone, Level 9, you will automatically go to World 8.

Coin Heaven

World 2-4, From the very start, fly up to the left to a Coin Heaven.

How to get a star at the end of a level

At the end of a level, hit the goal at a 45* angle to automatically get a star.

1-up in World 3-2

World 3-2, Before geting the goal, fly up to the left for coins and a hidden 1-up.

1-up in World 3-3

World 3-3, if you pass the pipe that takes you to the goal, you will find a 1-up.

Whistle locations

The first whistle is in World 1-3. At the white block, press down for five seconds until you are in the background and go to the end of the level. The second whistle is in the World 1 fortress. Get a tail so you can fly, then before going in the door, fly up all the way to the right and press up to find it. The final whistle is in World 2. Get the hammer and use it at the very top right of the map. You will be able to get a frog suit and the final whistle.

World 8 Fortress tips

Sent in by Buzard245 To get through the World 8 fortress: enter it and go to the right. Find the block with the mushroom in it, if your not already big. Then go back to the first door above the roto-discs. Go left a little way to find a block with a feather. Use it, then go right to where the first Thwomp is. Break the bricks he's next to carefully. When you're done, go to the right ALL the way until you get to another wall of bricks. Make sure you don't fall in the room with the door, because you won't be able to get out. Break the bricks and keep going. Don't get hit! When you get to the sliding thwomp, jump over him. Hit the two bricks. One has a P-switch. Hit it and run all the way right. There will be a door against the wall that wasn't there before. Go in it, and you'll get to Boom-Boom.

Geting on the pipe in World 1-2

Sent in by Rachael If you aren't using a Game Genie code you can still get on the pipe to the 1 up and the coins if all the coins are gone. This is in World 1-2. On your right there is a down hill slope on a point where it sticks out of the ground, just slide down really fast and jump when you get to the edge and you should land on the edge of the pipe.

Jump high and run through the air

Sent in by seankel@geocities.com Super Slide Jump: For this to work you can't be Raccoon Mario. First you have go to the top a steep hill. Now hold "B" and you slide down it. Now jump just before you reach the bottom. Mario now will jump really high and run through the air.

Get 99 lives

Sent in by Todd Armstrong In Level 3-5 there should be a Lacitu that shoots out those red things with spikes on there back. About 10 seconds into the level you meet 3 turtles walking up a hill. DO NOT KILL THEM, THEY HELP YOU. Go get Lacitu and bring him over to just after the place where you met that turtle, there is a Parana plant that comes out of the top of your screen. When you have Lacitu, jump on one of the three turtles backs, grab the turtle, bring it over to where the Parana plant is and stand on the ledge directly below the plant. let the turtle go and it should go back and forth between the two blocks on the ground. As Lacitu takes out thens red spiky guys, they should land in the space between the two blocks. As the turtle shell goes back and forth it should kill all of the red spiky things, as each one gets killed you should get another life. You can get up to as many as 99 lives!!!

Hidden pipes

Sent in by Jason Link In World 8, Level 2, begin sinking in the sand pit. You drop down a ways and you can choose either of two pipes. They each have coins or extra lives in them. Then go back in the tube. This takes you very close to the end. Avoid the fire plants and go down the hill. DON'T SLIDE DOWN!! Jump on the noteblock and hit the card.

2 1-ups

Sent in by Mike Mikes World 5: Spiral Castle- use a P-wing and get to the first sky part. Break lots of bricks, many have coins and 1-ups. Then fly over the big wall. There are 2 1-ups.

Fortress tip

Sent in by Mike Mikes Any Fortress: Use the hammer suit and you can kill thwomps, ghosts, and the end guy with 1 hammer.

Where to find Hammer suits

Sent in by Mike Mikes Mushroom House after 6-5. Down pipe in 6-10 (melt ice, then use p-switch to change black things into coins. Mushroom house after 7-5 (Not always).

Be a gray Hammer Bros. guy

Sent in by Kris Smith This is a useless trick, but very interesting. Here's what you do. I forget the exact World where it can be done, but it needs to be done in a level that has a giant block that yields a Hammer Bros. suit. You must first get to this room with the Tanooki Suit on. Now, Hit the block, and turn to stone. As the Hammer Bros. suit bonces around, if it hits you when you are turned to stone, you will be a gray Hammer Bros. guy. The only problem, is you can now not enter the pipe. You are stuck in this room, but it's still pretty neat.

Hidden World

Sent in by James Stevens In World 5-7 after you complete the world you enter a pipe and exit into the area where you run to get the card. Try flying up to the left and on top of the wall. Walk to the left then and you will discover a world that is very hard because there is one of the clouds that throws the spiked monster all over the place. However if you smash enough bricks in the ceiling you will find a P that will give you coins. A high risk move, little rewards, I recommend using a P-wing.

World 3-9 trick

Sent in by James Stevens In World 3-9 at the end of the surface world before you go down the pipe that is surrounded with movable blocks, take out the ones on the left and the third one up on the right, there should now be a two bricks against the wall, a gap and one above the gap. Duck down and remove the two bricks without removing the top one. This should trap you in between the wall and the pipe with a brick above your head. While sanding up try to jump and go down the pipe. Eventually you should be taken down the pipe without having gotten on top of it. This allows you to run from one end of the board to the other trapped in between the water world and the surface world. One draw back is that when you run out of time you do not die. You have to turn the game off to continue playing.

2 hidden lives

Be invincible fighting Bowser when standing

Sent in by Sean Kelly Defeat Final Boss Easily: Use a P-Wing and enter the final castle in World 8. In the final boss' chamber, fly up and to the left until you reach the other side of the wall, then return to the chamber. The boss won't be able to breathe fire and if he stomps you once, you'll be invincible while on the ground.

One less row of bricks under Bowser

Sent in by Guido Wommer It helps to have a P-Wing for this one, or if you use Game Genie, use the code GZUXNGEI for Multi-Jump. In the last castle (the absolute last one, home of that Bowser guy) while you're crossing the donut lifts that lead to the final chamber, there's a statue on the bricks right before the door. You know, right above the last donut lift. Here's what you do: First, duck. Then, take off. While ducking, fly just above the statue's head and land on it. Then, stand up. You will go to the right. This leads to a room in which there is a leaf, then more platforms that lead to the final chamber. Using this trick, it will take less time to beat the game because there is one less row of bricks for Bowser to break. WARNING: Don't do this trick a second time!!!! There will be another statue in the same position after you have done the trick, but don't land on top of it and expect to go into another room! You go to the right, just like in the first try, but you get stuck right above the door to the final chamber, and have to wait for the timer to run out before you can continue.

Kill Bowser with hammers

Sent in by Conqurer If you can get to Bowser's room with the hammer suit on, you can defeat him by hitting him with about six hammers. You'll know if you've hit him by hearing a sound similar sound to the one you hear when you defeat turtles with fireballs. After you've done that, try defeating Bowser with fireballs! Yes, it is possible. I'm not sure how many it takes, but if you can do it, consider yourself a pro.

Swim under the ship

Sent in by Martin Doyon When you get to World 8 at the level with the battleships, it's easier to swim under the ship to beat it.

Get lots of lives

Sent in by Jeremy Hartsook In World 1-2 when you go over the pipe that is shaped like a T, there will be Goomba's coming out. Get a feather and come back then after a couple have come out start jumping on there heads. After you get 8000 points you will start getting 1-ups until you touch the ground.

Final Bowser Castle tip

Sent in by Todd Muirhead Final Bowser Castle--Use a feather with a P and past the fire ball go on the roof and fly right and a door then go through it.

Iup

Sent in by Todd Muirhead World 3-8--If you go to the end and go on the lower section jump on the block with a P and quickly go on the top and get the three last coins and the top is a 1-up block and get it . It may take more than one try.

Be invisible

Sent in by Chris Gunderson This code is useless, but neat. In 3-9, go to the pipe by the blocks. Break the blocks. then, dodging the bullet bills, find the white block in front of it. Press down for 5 seconds. You will go behind the scenery. Now, walk over there, only jump-ing when you have to. If you jump too many times, it won't work. Now, go down the pipe. When you come out, you will be invisible! This may take more than 1 try.
