Donkey Kong Classics

In Donkey Kong, when you get rid of all those yellow things, the middle
platforms fall to the bottom and DK falls on them. Then, a new top
middle platform appears and Mario and that girl run towards each other
and a heart appears on the top of the screen. Then, the game restarts on
the first level, but it doesn't seem to get harder or anything.
In Donkey Kong Jr., the top platform and chains disappear from under DK's
cage and Mario. Then, Mario falls and DK gets out of his (or is it her?)
cage and also falls, but DK Jr. catches him (or is it her?). Then, the
game restarts on the first level, also appearing to not get harder.
