If you ditched the evidence planted by Vickers and Sternwood, then
had all the evidence of your innocence, When you go to the police
station, the cops are interested and find the evidence. You go to
court against the two and with the cunning of your lawyer, and
the evidence to back you up, your name is cleared, and you get a
certificate labeling you a professional private eye. The last scene
is where you're leaning against a rail overlooking the city at night.
You keep on repeating, "Ace Harding's my moniker. Once boxer,
now private eye." THE END
