At the Hippo stage, run into the water (you'll need Fire Mario). Go down
to the bottom. You'll see a little hole. Go down the hole and use a fireball
on the block, then run into an enemies twice. Then go back and go in the
space where the block was and there's two extra lives.
Hippo Zone secrets

First, grab yourself a bubble from the first hippo. If you float up and
to the left, you will find a ? block with a 1up in it.
If you dive into the water just after the first hippo and go to the far
left, you will find a ? block with a Mario bag in it. After that, go just
under the hippo. There is an entrance to a cave with 2 lives and a coin
in it. If you have Fire Mario, go into the cave and shoot the fire block.
Then back out and find the ? block with a fire flower. Hit the block, but
do not grab the flower!!! Now go find an enemy and shrink yourself
to itty-bitty size. Then grab the 2 lives and coin, and now you can get
the fire flower.
After the first hippo is a pattern of coins, something like: /\/\/\/\/\...
with small platforms below. Just above one of the narrow platforms
is a hidden block with an extra life in it. (Note: if you are in the regular
mode, it will be a platform with a spiky box above its right side. To
find the block, stand under the spiky box and jump. The block will knock
out the box.)
Eventually, you will see a funny cloud pattern. It will be an arrow pointing
to a small cloud. Fly up to the small cloud and you should find another
hidden block with a Mario bag in it.
Secret areas

Tree Zone 1: You can get to this by using a Bunny Ears close to the end
of the level by flying across the gap between the ledge and the ledge
on the right with the pipe. After you complete this level, the tree will
grow flowers.
Macro (House) Zone 1: Close to the end of the level, you will notice an
upside-down pipe with blocks covering it. Jump up and blocks which
you can jump on will appear. Do this until there are 4 blocks and use
a Fire Flower to shoot the blocks on the pipe. Jump up while pressing
the Up on the + control pad, then you will get to the secret level.
Actually, this one is a shortcut.
Turtle Zone 2: Go on the normal course until you get to a platform on
the left with a Koopa Troopa on it. Shrink yourself by running through
the Koopa, then get rid of it. Go to the left and walk through the small
passageway. Keep going until you reach the secret level opening. This
way, you can get to that island.
Space Zone 1: When you get to the first pillar after the Moon blocks
with the aliens, jump slightly to the left and a block will pop up. Keep
going up and go to the right. You will soon reach separated platforms
with coins, then the secret opening. Try it! It's funny!!!
There are 2 secret levels in the Pumpkin Zone. They are:
Pumpkin Zone 2: You need to be big to get this. Go into the water and
down into the passage. DO NOT get licked by the tongues or eaten by
the fish. Keep going until you can spin over the blocks on the pipe. Go down
and into the secret level. This makes eyes in the pumpkin appear.
Pumpkin Zone 3: When you get to the steps, fly off the first step with
the Bunny Ears. You will land on a platform that takes you to the secret
level that makes Boos appear over the graves on the Level Select.
Also, you can get special items or coins near the Save Bells. If there
are two blocks supporting the Bell, there is usually a secret. Also, if
there is an indication of an arrow, you can jump in that area to pop up
blocks and get to the item(s). A perfect place for this is in the Tree Zone.

On the haunted house level on the pumpkin zone, (Note: you must have
bunny ears!) jump and glide to a hallway. The hallway will take you to
a secret door!

Space Zone - Level 1
Keep going to you get to the planet Jupiter. Then jump all around until
you bump a block. When you have bumped a block jump on it. Then when
you have done that get on the block that you have bumped. Then jump all
around again until you bump the other block on top of you. Then keep
doing that until you get to the top to see heaps and heaps of blocks all
together. There will be heaps of coins on the blocks. It will be handy for
you. Keep going right until you get there but be careful because you might
fall down and you have to do it again. There are six secret Levels.
Pumpkin Zone
Before you get to the end get wings and then get to the end. Have a run
up and then fly with your carrots to the right on top of the stairs. You
should land in a secret tunnel. Keep going right until you get to the door.
The door should have a star on it. If it doesn't have a star on it, then
it is not the secret door.
Micro Zone shortcut

In the first area of the Micro Zone there is a pipe on the roof blocked by
the blocks that you can only break with fire power. If you break them there
is a passage that leads to a shortcut door that will bring you to the attic.
Extra lives in the Tree Zone

In the Tree Zone, after you finish the second level, you have a choice
to go into the bee level or the ant level. If you go into the ant level,
there are several extra lives. They are:
1.) At the first ? block, which has a mushroom or fire flower inside,
jump onto it and jump up. A block should appear with a heart falling from it.
2.) When you go to the far right, there should be a branch with some
leaves above it. Get onto the branch and jump through the gap at the
right of the leaves - another extra life.
3.) A ways above that, you should see a bunch of blocks with a question
mark block in it and a branch growing out of the side. This one is no
secret: just hit the ? block.
4.) For this one, you need a lot of time. Near the end, there are two of
those platforms that drop when you stand on them. Get on the first
and jump to find yet another life. When you grab it, though, try to aim
so that you'll land on something, even if you have to start from the beginning.
One more thing. If you like Bunny Mario as much as I do, there's a carrot
in the level just for you. After getting yourself above where you started,
you should see two blocks with a space between them. Jump up into
that space.

On the Tree Zone, at the end, before you hit the bell, go to the edge right
before the door. Jump up and you will find a block. Get on the top of that
block and jump up. A block will appear and a life will come out. Get it
before it gets to far and hit the bell or go in the door.
Ghosts in Pumpkin Zone

In the Pumpkin Zone, on the map where you see the witch flying
around on her broom, you can make little ghosts fly around on the
outside of the levels where the witch is.
To do that, you go to the level in the Pumpkin Zone that looks like
an old church. Near the end of the level, (you need the rabbit-ears
for this), you take a running/floating jump from the top stairs
and you will float all the way to a secret compartment in the level.
And the end of the tiny hallway, there is a door with a star above it.
Go in there, and it will take you to a secret level. Beat the secret
level (it's not that easy!) and when you come back to the screen
with the witch, there will be little ghosts dancing/floating on the
screen.
Hidden heart and boxes in Tree Zone, Stage 1

Tree Zone, Stage 1: After you walk up on the hill, and have
jumped over 2 openings, there should be a section with one
little tiny spot in the middle. Jump on it, and jump up and
a little to the right. A box appears. Then you jump up and
to the left. Another box. Then up and to the right. If you
then look up you can see a box with a heart on it. There are
also two spots just like these in the stage, and they have
arrows pointing to the spot. One is a small ways before the
first prickly thing. The second is right at the location of the
second prickly thing. There's another one without an arrow,
which is right by the third prickly thing. There already two
blocks there to help you.
Easy Mode
At the pipe room where you pick your game, press select and the game
wil1 become an "Easy Mode".
Demo mode
When the Title Screen appears, hold Up, Select, and B, in that order.
Continue to hold them until the screen changes, to play the demo mode
for 60 seconds before the game blips.
Demo Stages
Enter these codes at the title screen for more Demo Stages:
Gate Zone: Hold Up, press Select
Space Zone: Hold Up + A, press Select
Turtle Zone: Hold Up + B, press Select
Macro Zone: Hold Up, A + B, Press Select
Get lots of coins
Clear the Hippopotamus Zone and the Space Zone. Return
to the Hippopotamus Zone, run into the water, and then to
the left. Grab the prize worth 50 coins. Do this over and
over until you've grabbed 999 coins, then play the Bonus
Game. Repeat this procedure until you have 99 lives!
