* 1. CRAFT *
************************************************************
------------------------------------------------------------
1.1 Rebel
------------------------------------------------------------
1.1.1 X-Wing
------------
Named for its unique double-layered wings, or S-foils, this
ship is one of the most versatile weapons in the Rebel Alliance.
In combat, its S-foils are opened to give it greater
maneuverability. These S-foils are closed during normal flight,
so it can fly faster while still pulling off advanced aerobatics
such as rolls. The X-wing is formidably armed, with high-powered
blaster cannons in its wing tips, plus proton torpedo launchers
on its main space-frame. With its reinforced titanium alloy hull
and high-powered shield generators, the X-wing can take a barrage
of minor hits and still keep flying.
1.1.2 Y-Wing
------------
A cross between a fighter and a bomber, the Y-wing formed
the backbone of the Rebel Alliance starfighter fleet prior to the
introduction of the X-wing. The workhorse Y-wing is larger,
slower, and less maneuverable than the X-wing, and has difficulty
against the more agile Imperial craft. However, it is extremely
durable, and heavily armed with blasters, an ion cannon, and
bombs, making it ideal for bombing and strafing runs against
surface targets.
1.1.3 A-Wing
------------
This is the fastest starfighter in the Rebel Alliance. The
A-wing can outrun most ships in the Imperial Navy, making it
ideal for Rogue Squadron's hit-and-run missions. Its powerful
armament includes twin wing-mounted pivoting blaster cannons and
concussion missiles. Although the A-wing is highly maneuverable
in dogfights, it cannot sustain much battle damage, and its
cockpit design exposes its pilot to enemy fire.
1.1.4 Airspeeder
----------------
A nickname for the Incom T-47, this craft made a valiant
defense at the Battle of Hoth against Imperial forces, enabling
the Rebels to evacuate their base. An airspeeder is limited to
low altitudes, is unable to perform elaborate acrobatic maneuvers
such as rolls, and has no shields. It compensates for this with
fast speed and small size that make it a difficult target for
Imperial weapons. This craft is armed with two blaster cannons,
plus a tow cable to tangle AT-ATs.
1.1.5 V-Wing
------------
With its light weight and swift speed, the V-wing has a
definite advantage over the airspeeder. It features a scram jet
and a huge booster. Use the scram jet and weapons sparingly, or
the engines will overheat.
1.1.6 Special Craft Functions
-----------------------------
Pressing the Special Button on your controller activates
special functions on several craft. On the X-Wing, pressing this
button opens and closes the S-foils. Close S-Foils for more
speed, but they must be open to fire weapons. On the V-Wing, this
button gives you an extra burst of speed from its "scram jets."
And on the Y-Wing this button fires the Ion Cannons.
------------------------------------------------------------
1.2 Imperial
------------------------------------------------------------
1.2.1 TIE Fighter
-----------------
Powered by twin ion engines, a TIE fighter's advantages are
its excellent maneuverability and its small profile, which makes
it a difficult target to hit. However, these advantages come at a
steep price, since it has no shields, no hyperdrive systems, and
no other weapons besides forward-mounted blaster cannons. A
direct hit on one can usually destroy it.
1.2.2 TIE Interceptor
---------------------
This dagger-shaped starfighter is more than a match for the
Rebel craft, since it's nearly as fast as an A-wing and more
maneuverable than an X-wing. The TIE interceptor's weapons
include four blaster cannons with advanced targeting software for
greater accuracy. Since the TIE interceptor has little armor and
no shield generators, it can easily be destroyed with a few
direct hits.
1.2.3 TIE Bomber
----------------
A TIE bomber is armed with two front-firing blaster
cannons, and can drop a variety of payloads, including bombs,
guided concussion missiles, orbital mines, and thermal
detonators.
1.2.4 Landing Craft
-------------------
This heavily armored assault ship devotes two-thirds of its
power to its shields, making it extremely difficult to destroy.
1.2.5 AT-AT
-----------
Short for All Terrain Armored Transport, the four-legged
Imperial walker strikes terror in the heart of any defender. This
mechanized beast is armed with blaster cannons underneath its
"chin" and medium blasters on each side of its "head," and has
thick armor plating to protect it from most types of artillery
fire. Try to wrap a tow cable around the "legs" of an AT-AT with
a airspeeder to bring this behemoth down.
1.2.6 AT-ST
-----------
Short for All Terrain Scout Transport, this chicken-like
walker is used to support Imperial ground troops and protect the
vulnerable underbelly of the AT-AT walkers. Since it balances on
two legs, the two-person AT-ST is more unstable than the AT-AT,
but its superior speed and formidable firepower more than make up
for this weakness.
1.2.7 AT-PT
-----------
Short for All Terrain Personal Transport, this small, two-
legged weapons system has the ability to climb up 45-degree
mountains and hills. The AT-PT houses one or two soldiers,
surrounding them with thick, heavy armor in its central command
pod. It is armed with a twin-blaster cannon.
1.2.8 Probe Droid
-----------------
This reconnaissance device was used by Darth Vader to
locate the Rebel base on Hoth. It can move quickly across planet
surfaces, and is programmed to detect life forms and signs of
habitation. An Imperial probe droid is armed with a blaster
device.
1.2.9 Waveskimmer
-----------------
Like its name implies, this attack hydrofoil was designed
to operate above the water's surface at high speeds. Originally
built around the frame of an AT-AT, a waveskimmer is far more
maneuverable than its land-bound counterpart.
1.2.10 Armored Hover Train
--------------------------
With cars heavily defended by numerous gun emplacements and
missile turrets, strafing runs against this mobile target are
difficult at best.
1.2.11 Tank Droid
-----------------
Designed to stop civil unrest on Imperial worlds, this
fully automated combat vehicle driven by a droid brain is a
brutal urban assault machine.
------------------------------------------------------------
1.3 Stationary Imperial Targets
------------------------------------------------------------
1.3.1 Turbolaser
----------------
Turbolasers are the backbone of Imperial planetary defenses
throughout the galaxy. These stationary cannons fire twin
blasters strong enough to take out any fighter or infantry.
1.3.2 Missile Turret
-------------------
Advanced ground-based defensive weaponry used to protect
important Imperial facilities. These turrets fire powerful
missiles that home in on their targets and rarely miss. The
destructive capability of these missiles should not be
underestimated.
1.3.3 Shield Generator
----------------------
A device that produces the power needed to create and
maintain deflector shields and to focus those shields around a
given object. Wherever there is a shield that cannot be breached,
there is sure to be a shield generator nearby. Destroying the
generator is a sure way to take out the shield.
1.3.4 Radar Dish
----------------
A rotating dish that alerts the Empire to incoming enemies.
Destroying radar dishes can limit the Imperials' ability to track
your craft. Radar dishes can also function as general
communications devices.
************************************************************
* 2. CHARACTERS *
************************************************************
------------------------------------------------------------
2.1 Rebel
------------------------------------------------------------
2.1.1 Luke Skywalker
--------------------
The greatest hero of the Rebel Alliance, Luke Skywalker
needs little introduction. Among his accomplishments are blowing
up the first Death Star, rescuing his twin sister Princess Leia,
and helping to fend off the Imperial forces in the Battle of Hoth
so that the Rebel base there could be evacuated. After the Battle
of Yavin, Luke and Wedge Antilles formed Rogue Squadron.
2.1.2 Wedge Antilles
--------------------
One of Rogue Squadron's true aces, this native of Corellia
was orphaned as a teenager, then began smuggling weapons for the
Rebels. Once he took to flying X-wing starfighters, he soon
proved himself to be a crack fighter pilot and an extremely
competent, if low-profile, leader. Wedge saved Luke Skywalker
during the attack on the first Death Star at the Battle of Yavin.
Later, they formed Rogue Squadron together.
2.1.3 Zev Senesca
-----------------
A highly-decorated pilot and long-time member of the Rebel
Alliance, Senesca shot down 48 Imperial craft prior to the Battle
of Hoth. Politically motivated to join the Rebel forces, Senesca
was motivated by tragedy after his parents were killed by the
Empire.
2.1.4 Dack Ralter
-----------------
This young Alliance hero was Luke Skywalker's airspeeder
gunner during the defense of the Rebel base at Hoth. Dack's
parents were political prisoners of the Empire, and he escaped
from an Imperial prison barge when he was a teenager. Ralter is
skilled as both a pilot and a gunner.
2.1.5 Wes Janson
----------------
This tough, smart, action-loving lieutenant was a gunner in
Wedge Antilles' airspeeder during the Battle of Hoth, and helped
bring down an AT-AT walker by tangling its legs in a cable.
Janson is a past winner of the True Gunner award for outstanding
accuracy. This Rogue is one of those rare soldiers who is as
competent on the ground as he is in the air, and can shoot and
fly with tremendous skill.
2.1.6 "Hobbie" Klivian
----------------------
That rare pilot who is both extremely capable and extremely
humble, Hobbie was a former Imperial cadet who mutinied and
deserted his Imperial Academy training to join the Rebel
Alliance. Hobbie has a reputation for enjoying bacta baths, as
well as for crashing every craft he touches and surviving.
2.1.7 Carlist Rieekan
---------------
This former officer in the Old Republic army joined the
Rebel Alliance after his home planet, Alderaan, was vaporized by
the first Death Star. Rieekan was named Theater Commander in
charge of all Rebel ground and fleet forces in the Hoth System.
Later, he was forced to evacuate the Hoth base when it was
overrun by Imperial forces. After the Hoth evacuation, General
Rieekan was given command of military operations for the Rebel
Alliance.
------------------------------------------------------------
2.2 Imperial
------------------------------------------------------------
2.2.1 Crix Madine
-----------
This Corellian is a highly-decorated Imperial officer. He
originally earned his reputation as a brilliant leader in charge
of the Storm Commandos, an elite Imperial army unit. Madine would
later defect and take up the cause of the Rebellion.
2.2.2 Kasan Moor
----------------
This native of Alderaan was one of the rising stars in the
Imperial Navy, quickly moving up in ranks from crack TIE Fighter
pilot to leader of the 128th TIE Interceptor Squadron. Her
allegiance toward the Empire soon wavered, however, when she was
informed that her home planet had been obliterated by the Death
Star. While she continues to distinguish herself by flying with
the 128th, Moor is contemplating defection to the Rebel forces,
since she believes that her allegiance to the Imperial forces
means nothing if they can coldly destroy her friends and family.
2.2.3 Moff Kohl Seerdon
-----------------------
Formerly Kasan Moor's mentor, Imperial Moff Seerdon is now angry
at her, since he is not sure which side she is fighting for. Moff
Seerdon is attempting to consolidate bacta supplies under his
control, and sees Rogue Squadron as a threat to his plans for
domination.

* 3. MISSION PROFILES & STRATEGY GUIDES *
************************************************************
------------------------------------------------------------
3.1 Chapter I
------------------------------------------------------------
3.1.1 Ambush at Mos Eisley
--------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Protect the Homesteads
Destroy the Probe Droids
Protect Mos Eisley
Eliminate the Imperial Forces
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 3:00
Enemies Destroyed: 31
Accuracy: 15%
Friendly Saves: 50
Bonuses Collected: 0
Default Craft: X-Wing
Optional Craft: A-Wing, V-Wing
Bonus: None
This mission takes place on Luke Skywalker's home planet of
Tatooine, a bleak, forbidding desert world scorched by twin suns
in the Outer Rim. Tatooine has recently been colonized due to its
strategic location near several hyperspace routes. Its largest
spaceport city, Mos Eisley, is a crossroads for interstellar
commerce, and is populated with pirates, thieves, and smugglers.
Strategy Guide
--------------
This mission starts just outside of Mos Eisley, in the
desert hills of Tatooine. Right away you'll see a group of Probe
Droids, about 3 or 4. Take them out, and your radar will direct
you to the right. Take out this group of 5, then head right over
the two buildings as your radar says. Here you'll find 5 more
Probe Droids, and after they're toast, follow the radar to the
left.
Destroy the next 5 Droids, but don't follow the radar just
yet; if you do, you'll always be short of the Gold Medal by 4
enemies destroyed. Keep going straight, in the direction of 4 red
blips on your radar. Here you'll find 4 Stormtroopers, 2 on foot
and 2 riding things. R2 will make a sound and Luke will laugh
when you fly by. Take them out, then go ahead and follow your
radar and take out the two Droids by the Sandcrawler.
Once done, the animation sequence will tell you to head to
Mos Eisley. Do so, take out the 6 TIE Bombers, and you're done.
*Tips: To get the Gold Medal for this mission you need to
do it in 3 minutes, so be quick about taking out the enemies.
Don't worry about accuracy on this one.
3.1.2 Rendezvous on Barkhesh
----------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Escort Supply Convoy to Safety
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 5:45
Enemies Destroyed: 30
Accuracy: 40%
Friendly Saves: 19
Bonuses Collected: 0
Default Craft: X-Wing
Optional Craft: A-Wing, V-Wing
Bonus: None
You'll fly this mission on Barkhesh, a planet noted for its
hot, humid, tropical jungles in its southern regions. The local
resistance there is transporting supplies desperately needed by
the Rebellion. The Empire will do everything in its power to stop
the transfer, and has posted Imperial scout walkers in the
planet's canyons.
Strategy Guide
--------------
You'll first be faced with 4 Probe droids in your path;
take them out, but don't follow the radar yet. Quickly go right
and take out an AT-ST, but ignore the others for now. Fly up and
take out the two nearby Turbolasers, then follow your radar to
the convoy.
When the convoy gets moving, take out the 4 Probe Droids in
its path, then head right before you get to the building, between
the hills, in the direction the convoy will go. Take out the AT-
ST in your path, then keep going straight and take out the next
two walkers.
Immediately head back to the convoy. Your radar will always
steer you to the convoy. Two TIE Bombers will fly in from behind
the convoy, so take them both out immediately. Head in the
direction the convoy is going and you'll find another AT-ST; take
it out and get back to the convoy to take out the next two TIE
Bombers.
Fly ahead of the convoy once again, and take out the two
Turbolasers that should be firing on the armored escorts. Keep on
going and you'll see another AT-ST and a Big Gun Turret. At this
point General Rieekan will be telling you to get back to the
convoy, but ignore him for now. Take them out, but don't worry
about the large container next to the Laser Tower; it's difficult
to destroy and takes up time you don't have. Before heading back,
take out the Stormtroopers on the nearby hill; if you don't,
you'll be short on enemies destroyed and won't get your Gold
Medal.
If you head back quickly enough, you'll be able to take out
a TIE Bomber, and the mission ends when the convoy stops.
*Tips: Don't fly away from the convoy too often; TIE
Bombers will appear without your knowledge and take out the
convoy. Also, don't be afraid to use your Proton Torpedoes on the
AT-ST's; you'll have 6, one for each walker in the mission.
3.1.3 The Search for the Nonnah
-------------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Locate the Crashed Rebel Ship
Protect the Ship from Invading Imperial Forces
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 10:00
Enemies Destroyed: 38
Accuracy: 20%
Friendly Saves: 1
Bonuses Collected: 0
Default Craft: A-Wing
Optional Craft: X-Wing, V-Wing
Bonus: None
In this mission, you'll be flying over the lakes of Chorax,
trying to locate a downed Rebel ship in a race against the
Imperials looking for the ship as well. The Chorax system is
located in the Rachuk sector, and contains one medium-sized star
and one planet. It is a haven for pirates and smugglers.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Right away you'll have 2 waves of 3 TIE Interceptors coming
at you; take them out, but be weary of more that will join the
fray. Take them all out, in addition to a stray TIE Bomber flying
about. Fly around and take out the half-dozen Probe Droids that
are lurking about, but keep moving; your A-Wing isn't equipped
with heavy shields.
Once those are cleared, General Rieekan will tell you that
the Nonnah is under attack, and your radar will indicate which
direction to fly. Find the Nonnah, and you'll see a Rebel Shuttle
approach and eventually position itself over the Nonnah; your
objective now is to protect this shuttle.
On the nearby shore you'll see another Shuttle, this one
Imperial. Don't waste time shooting it, because it's too tough
and isn't critical to your mission. Right away it dispatches an
AT-ST and 3 tank droids; take them out, and an animation sequence
will warn you of incoming Imperial fighters. These will consist
of stray TIE Interceptors and TIE Bombers. Don't worry about the
Interceptors, but focus on the Bombers; they approach from the
direction the Rebel Shuttle is facing and come in waves of two.
Their sole purpose is to bomb the Shuttle. Try to take these out
before they reach the Shuttle, or a few choice hits will destroy
it.
Once all the fighters are taken care of, the Shuttle will
take to the air, at which point you must escort it to safety. TIE
Interceptors will come from behind, attempting to destroy the
Shuttle. Fend them off until the Shuttle is away, and your
mission is complete.
*Tips: The 'Friendly Save' in this mission is the Shuttle,
so don't worry about protecting your wingmen from Interceptors.
Also, take out as many enemies as possible; you need 38 enemies
destroyed to get your Gold Medal. Time and accuracy are not
concerns.
3.1.4 Defection at Corellia
---------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Investigate Strange Readings
Protect the Capital Tower
Protect the Tech Center
Protect the Evacuation Shuttles
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 10:00
Enemies Destroyed: 50
Accuracy: 20%
Friendly Saves: 95
Bonuses Collected: 1
Default Craft: Airspeeder
Optional Craft: None
Bonus: Advanced Proton Torpedoes
The planet is home to Han Solo, General Crix Madine, and
Rogue Squadron's own Wedge Antilles. With its rolling hills,
immense oceans, and cities with wide-open spaces, Corellia is a
pleasant spot in the galaxy. The Corellian system is known for
its fast ships, wily traders, and pirates. The planet's extensive
shipyards attracted the attention of the Empire, who then invaded
and occupied it.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Your radar will tell you to veer left, where you fly for a
short time before finding 6 Probe Droids in a small valley. Once
you destroy those, and an animation sequence tells you the city
is under attack, you will turn right around and head back to the
city. Here you will find pairs of TIE Bombers attacking the
various city areas. When the bombers are cleared, the next
animation sequence tells you that Crix Madine is trapped in the
Tech Center, which is being attacked.
Go there and you will find 4 TIE Bombers mercilessly
bombing the area. Destroy them and you get an animation sequence
where the Millenium Falcon saves you from attacking TIEs. You are
now being guided by your radar back to the city, but don't go
just yet; your Bonus is nearby.
In the first or second city heading back from the Tech
Center, the ground in the middle of the city is a distinctly
brighter shade of blue than the rest. Next to a pair of identical
short, long buildings, lies your Bonus. Pick it up and for
subsequent missions you will have Advanced Proton Torpedoes.
Now follow your radar back to the city, where you'll find
two bombers attacking. Get them and Han Solo will talk to you
about evacuating; that's your cue to get the AT-AT that is
approaching in a nearby valley. Take it out with your tow cable,
and you will see an animation sequence telling you that AT-ST's
are attacking the Tech Center.
Race back there and take them out with your blasters, but
you're not done there yet; another AT-AT is nearby, intending to
take out the Tech Center. Take it out with your tow cable. Now a
Rebel Shuttle will come in to rescue Madine, and you must protect
it. 2 waves of 3 TIE Fighters will fly in, so destroy them before
they get the Shuttle. The Shuttle heads back to the city, where
it will land and rescue General Rieekan.
Take out any TIE Bombers that are attacking, and your
mission is complete.
*Tips: You only have 10 minutes to get your Gold Medal, so
be quick about eliminating the TIE Bombers and the AT-AT's. Also,
be sure to hit the brakes when you're getting the Bonus; you'll
have to pull up once you get it, no matter which direction you
are coming from.
3.1.5 Liberation of Gerrard V
-----------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Escort Y-Wings to their Targets
Disable Civilian Yachts
Destroy Big Gun Turret
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 5:15
Enemies Destroyed: 33
Accuracy: 30%
Friendly Saves: 6
Bonuses Collected: 0
Default Craft: X-Wing
Optional Craft: A-Wing, V-Wing
Bonus: None
This mission pits you against a skilled Imperial ace, Kasan
Moor. You'll be flying over Gerrard V, a planet whose surface is
covered by deserts and oceans. Its topography is dominated by
steep raised areas, called towers, and low-lying depressions,
known as saddles. Populated by Rebel supporters, Gerrard V once
revolted against the Empire, but this insurrection was crushed by
orbital bombings from Imperial Star Destroyers.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Approach the city and take out the first two Turbolasers,
both on the ground. Go left slightly and take out the Turbolaser
on top of the building, then head straight and find the first of
four Missile Turrets. Take out the first, then veer right and
take out the remaining three.
Now turn back to the city and take out the remaining Turbolasers;
there are a total of six in this city, four on the ground and two
on top of buildings. Keep an eye out for AT-PT's here too, as
there are 3 or so walking around the city.
Now you will be directed through a nearby canyon, where
you'll find 2 more AT-PT's. Once you take them out veer right
slightly, and take out the nearby Missile Turret. You'll be
entering another city, and you should immediately see a mounted
Turbolaser, with a Big Gun Turret nearby. Use a Proton Torpedo on
the Big Gun Turret, but be careful; there is a Missile Turret
right next to it.
Once the Missile Turret is history, take out the attacking
TIE Interceptors, cleaning up any stray AT-PT's along the way.
Once finished, an animation sequence will introduce you to Kasan
Moor and the mission is complete.
*Tips: Your primary objective is to protect the Y-Wings in
this mission, and you need protect all 6 for your Gold Medal. The
Missile Turrets are the Y-Wings' worst enemy, so take them out
promptly. Also, be weary of Turbolasers that are tucked into the
city, as they can be difficult to spot and can be a potential
threat to you and the Y-Wings.
------------------------------------------------------------
3.2 Chapter II
------------------------------------------------------------
3.2.1 The Jade Moon
-------------------
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 6:00
Enemies Destroyed: 45
Accuracy: 40%
Friendly Saves: 7
Bonuses Collected: 1
Mission Objectives:
Use Trench to Avoid Missile Turrets
Locate and Destroy the Shield Generator
Escort and Protect Madine's Troops
Default Craft: X-Wing
Optional Craft: A-Wing, V-Wing
Bonus: Advanced Shielding
You'll begin your next mission on a moon of Loronar, home
to construction facilities where the Empire's biggest warships
and special weapons platforms are built. This moon's surface is
punctured by rocky valleys, deep canyons, and craters.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Ignore the Shuttle in front of you, as it is deploying your
assault team. Follow your radar straight ahead, and take out the
4 AT-PT's in your path. As you approach the shielded Imperial
Base, take out the 4 Turbolasers that surround it, as well as any
ground targets in your path.
Once that is done, turn around and head back to where you
started. Keep an eye out on your right for a trench which you can
see on your radar distinctly. Head down the trench, keeping low
as instructed. Take out the single Turbolaser that sits at a Y in
the trench, then make a left.
Follow it down until you find a large building, but don't
rush in; first take out the Missile Turret around the corner on
the right. Once that's done, torpedo the building and pick up the
mission's Bonus, Advanced Shielding. Take out the Missile Turret
above and return to the trench, going back to the Y in the
trench, where you now turn left.
Follow the trench to the Shield Generator, firing your
blasters as you do, then turn left to find another Turbolaser and
an AT-PT. Take them out, as well as any ground targets, then turn
and take out the Shield Generator.
Once the following animation sequence plays, follow your
radar straight back to the Imperial Base, taking out any Missile
Turrets along the way. You'll find the shield down and your
assault team under attack from AT-PT's and TIEs. First take out
the AT-PT's, as they are bombarding your team with blaster fire.
Then take out any TIE Bombers, followed by any remaining TIEs.
Once all Imperial air cover is cleared, the mission is
complete.
*Tips: Taking out additional ground targets such as
buildings, Turbolasers and Missile Turrets helps increase your
enemies destroyed to achieve the 45 necessary for your Gold
Medal.
3.2.2 Imperial Construction Yards
---------------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Approach the Base Undetected
Locate and Destroy the AT-ST Factory
Locate and Destroy the AT-AT Factory
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 6:30
Enemies Destroyed: 80
Accuracy: 45%
Friendly Saves: 0
Bonuses Collected: 1
Default Craft: Airspeeder
Optional Craft: None
Bonus: Advanced Bombs
This mission sends you over the facilities of Balmorra, a
factory planet that builds advanced weapons of destruction for
the Imperial forces. Located at the Outer Edge of the Galactic
Core in the Nevoota system, Balmorra's plains are marked with
numerous canyons and mountains and, of course, industrial
buildings. Although occupied by the Empire, the inhabitants of
Balmorra long for independence and free markets for their
renowned weapons technology.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Fly down the canyon and take out the first 3 Radar Dishes,
being careful about getting too close. After the third, there is
an island formation with another dish behind it at which point
you can go left or right. Go right and let your wingmen take care
of it, while you take out the 2 remaining dishes.
Turn right and you'll find an AT-AT with a landing platform
behind it. Take out the nearby Turbolaser and as many ground
targets as time permits. Leave the platform and keep right, where
you'll find another landing platform where an Imperial Shuttle is
about to take off. A few choice shots will take out the Shuttle,
then eliminate the Turbolaser on the ridge above. While taking
out ground targets here, keep an eye out for a round container in
the corner; here you will find the next Bonus, Advanced Bombs.
Once you are satisfied, head out and keep right. Take out
the approaching AT-ST, being careful of the Turbolaser behind it.
You've now found the AT-ST construction facility. Try to take out
the Missile Turret first, then the Turbolaser, then worry about
the remaining AT-ST and the factory. To destroy the factories in
this level, it is only necessary to destroy the large buildings,
not the machines themselves.
Once cleared, head out towards the walker you saw earlier,
and to the platform behind it. You'll find the squadron of TIE
Fighters has now returned, and are sitting on the platform. Blast
away at as many as you can, then turn and fly in the direction
the AT-AT is going.
Straight ahead you'll find a canyon, the same one that
would be immediately to your right when you flew out of the
initial canyon with the Radar Dishes. Stay high and to the left,
because there's a ledge you can fly along that will provide some
cover. You'll need cover, because ahead you'll find an AT-AT, two
Turbolasers and two Missile Turrets. Try to fly ahead and avoid
the Turbolasers, and focus on the Turrets. Once they're gone,
attack the AT-AT construction facility you just found, trying to
take out ground targets and machinery first, then the larger
buildings. If you need to circle around, be careful of the
Turbolasers you passed earlier, and destroy them if necessary.
Once the last building is destroyed, your mission is complete.
*Tips: You only have 6:30 to get a Gold Medal on this
mission, but you also need 80 enemies destroyed, which means you
have to take out many targets as you can in a short amount of
time. You also need to worry about achieving 45% accuracy, so try
not to be blasting all the time. Be careful of the 2 groups of 3
TIE Fighters that are flying about too, as they'll blast you if
they see you. Don't bother taking out the AT-AT's with your tow
cable, as it's not worth the time to take out only 1 enemy.
3.2.3 Assault on Kile II
------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Locate and Destroy the Sensor Array
Locate and Destroy the Imperial Spaceport
Locate and Destroy the Imperial Garrisons
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 6:00
Enemies Destroyed: 65
Accuracy: 60%
Friendly Saves: 0
Bonuses Collected: 0
Default Craft: Y-Wing
Optional Craft: None
Bonus: None
On this planet, you'll be attacking the Imperial Enclave,
an enormous facility that supports the Empire's naval operations
in that sector of the galaxy. The surface of Kile II is marked by
canyons and large, enclosed areas, where you'll find the Imperial
spaceport, a long-range sensor post, and troop barracks.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Once you fly down the initial canyon and it curves to the
right, keep right. You'll come across a small cluster of
buildings accompanied by 3 turbolasers. Take out what you can and
continue on, keeping right. Proceed down a narrow canyon, taking
out 2 Turbolasers on the way, and you'll come out into a large
opening. You've found the Imperial Spaceport.
Turn right and take out the Missile Turrets and Turbolasers
first, which generally encircle the Spaceport. Then start bombing
the spaceport itself. Watch out for TIE Interceptors and Imperial
Shuttles, which will constantly blast at you for as long as
you're in the area. If you get a Shuttle in your sights, blast
it, and it and any other Shuttles will leave the area.
Once you're finished, exit the Spaceport down the same
narrow canyon from which you entered it. When you reach a break
in the canyon, turn right and stay right, taking out the Missile
Turret along the way. You'll come out into another large opening.
Now you've found the Sensor Array and the Imperial Garrisons.
The Garrisons are closest, so bomb the 2 buildings and 2
Turbolasers first. Then move out to the Sensor array, a large
building surrounded by 5 Radar Dishes and plenty of Turbolasers
and Missile Turrets. Take out the enemy fire first, again being
careful of attacking TIE Interceptors. Then take out the Radar
Dishes and main building.
When you see the animation sequence where Wedge gets shot
down, you know you only have a couple of targets left to destroy.
Once they are all destroyed, your mission is complete.
*Tips: To get your Gold Medal, you have 6 minutes to
destroy 65 targets with 60% accuracy, so try to place your bombs
between 2 close targets where possible, keeping in mind your
supply of a mere 20. Try to take out Missile Turrets and
Turbolasers with your blasters, saving bombs for the largest
buildings. Don't waste time trying to tackle the TIE
Interceptors, as the Y-Wing is much too slow and time is of the
essence.
3.2.4 Rescue on Kessel
----------------------
Mission Objectives:
Rescue Wedge
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 4:30
Enemies Destroyed: 26
Accuracy: 40%
Friendly Saves: 5
Bonuses Collected: 0
Default Craft: X-Wing
Optional Craft: None
Bonus: None
This mission takes you to the reddish, potato-shaped planet
of Kessel, where the Empire has a notorious prison facility.
Kessel's surface is covered with salt flats and pockmarked by
deep craters and mines. The thin atmosphere of this inhospitable
planet is barely breathable, so special factories have been built
to generate oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide.
Strategy Guide
--------------
At the beginning of the mission you must choose to either
pursue the convoy or the Hover Train; immediately go left and go
after the convoy. Wedge isn't there, but you need to destroy the
3-car convoy, and the nearby Turbolaser, Missile Turret, and
container to achieve your required 26 enemies destroyed for the
Gold Medal.
Once those are eliminated, head for the train, and take out
any AT-ST's, Turbolasers, and Missile Turrets that surround the
train's "guides". If you get the train in your sights, try to
take out the 3 cars that are armed with your Ion Cannons, but
don't disable the whole train yet. There are a slew of enemies
between the train and the prison. If you hear a TIE Interceptor
flying about, destroy it.
Follow the train's path to the prison itself, where it is
guarded by only 2 Turbolasers. Take these out, then return your
attention to the train and disable the remaining cars. Once the
entire train is disabled, your mission is complete.
*Tips: You need 26 enemies destroyed for your Gold Medal,
which means you must destroy every enemy in the mission. You must
act fast, because if the train reaches the prison, your mission
has failed. Also remember not to blast the train, because at
least 5 of the 6 cars must be disabled intact to get the Gold
Medal.
3.2.5 Prisons of Kessel
-----------------------
Mission Objectives:
Protect and Escort Madine's Shuttle
Destroy the Power Generator
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 10:30
Enemies Destroyed: 103
Accuracy: 40%
Friendly Saves: 35
Bonuses Collected: 1
Default Craft: X-Wing
Optional Craft: A-Wing, V-Wing
Bonus: Seeker Missiles
In this mission, you'll once again fly over Kessel, the
only planet where glitterstim spice is produced. This valuable
substance is prized for giving telepathic abilities to anyone who
consumes it, although users can become addicted to it. Before
joining the Rebel forces, Han Solo used to smuggle glitterstim
spice from Kessel. The Empire uses forced labor to mine this
spice, and guards it heavily.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Once the mission starts, steer right, then left. When you
spot 3 Probe Droids, take them and the 2 accompanying AT-ST's
out, then follow General Rieekan's Shuttle to the first prison.
Take out the 4 Turbolasers, but don't destroy the large
rectangular containers until that rescue is complete; you'll need
to take out the Stormtroopers that emerged when the rescue
started.
Destroy any TIE Fighters or TIE Interceptors immediately,
as they'll all be gunning for the Shuttle. Once you see the
animation sequence about the Shield Generator, don't waste a lot
of time before following your radar to it and destroying it, as
you only have 10 minutes to complete the mission. If you take it
out right away, you won't have to worry about your time. Try to
take out any Turbolasers at other prisons you might see along the
way, but don't deviate off your course to the Generator.
Hurry back to the first prison and the Shuttle, because you
can be sure more TIEs have shown up. Once the Shuttle is clear,
follow it to the second prison, and again clear away any
Turbolasers, TIEs or ground targets, including the Stormtroopers
that are scuttling around below. Look around the surrounding
hills for a small nook, where you'll see a Missile Turret and a
container. Destroy the Turret and then the container, inside
which you'll find your next Bonus, Seeker Missiles.
Once that rescue is complete proceed to the third prison
with the Shuttle, and again destroy any TIEs and other targets.
Then repeat when you reach the fourth and final prison. Once the
last rescue is complete, the Shuttle will leave and your mission
is complete.
*Tips: To get your Gold Medal, you need a whopping 103
enemies destroyed, which means you'll have to get a lot of
Stormtroopers on the ground. That's why it's key to leave the
containers until the rescues have started and they have emerged
from their barracks. Also, avoid following TIEs away from
whatever prison the Shuttle is at; focus on the ones that stay in
the area, because they'll be blasting the Shuttle every chance
they get.
------------------------------------------------------------
3.3 Chapter III
------------------------------------------------------------
3.3.1 Battle Above Taloraan
---------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Locate and Destroy the Imperial Tibanna Gas Containers
Avoid Civilian Casualties
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 7:00
Enemies Destroyed: 90
Accuracy: 70%
Friendly Saves: 1
Bonuses Collected: 1
Default Craft: A-Wing
Optional Craft: X-Wing
Bonus: Advanced Lasers
In this high-altitude mission, you'll be flying in the
cloudy atmosphere of Taloraan, an enormous gas planet with a
strong magnetic field in the Kelavine system of the Expansion
Region. The planet's Tibanna gas is breathable at high altitudes,
and is also used in the production of weapons.
Strategy Guide
---------------
Your mission here is simple: take out the Imperial gas
containers that rest on the floating platforms above Taloraan.
Most containers require only 3 or 4 shots, but you might find the
odd one that is reinforced and requires more.
As you progress through the level the platforms will have
more and more Turbolasers protecting them. Be sure to take these
out, as well as any TIE Fighters flying about. If you don't, they
will be gunning for civilian containers, as well as the Blockade
Runner, which is your 1 Friendly Save for your Gold Medal.
Once you reach the floating city, watch out for a TIE
Interceptor, whose sole purpose is to knock you out of the sky.
When that's taken care of, head for the city while applying the
brakes, aiming for the center. Here you'll find your next Bonus,
Advanced Lasers. You'll have to drop down, pick it up, then
quickly pull up to avoid the surrounding buildings.
Then follow your radar to the nearby platform, take out the
remaining containers, and your mission is complete.
*Tips: The biggest obstacle in the way of your Gold Medal
on this mission is time. You only have 7 minutes, but you have to
achieve 90 enemies destroyed as well as your mission objectives.
Be careful not to hit civilian containers; hit too many and your
mission is a failure. Be as quick as you can about taking out
containers and TIEs, and quickly proceed to the next container.
If you haven't taken out many targets around the platforms, wait
for the squadron of TIEs before you reach the city and pick them
off. Use your fire sparingly, as a 70% accuracy rate is also
required for the Gold Medal.
3.3.2 Escape from Fest
----------------------
Mission Objectives:
Locate Captured AT-PTs
Destroy Imperial Research Facility
Free the AT-PTs
Escort Rebel AT-PTs to the Landing Zone
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 6:30
Enemies Destroyed: 65
Accuracy: 25%
Friendly Saves: 7
Bonuses Collected: 1
Default Craft: Airspeeder
Optional Craft: None
Bonus: Seeker Proton Torpedoes
This mission takes you to a planet in the Atrivis sector of
the Outer Rim near the Mantooine system. Enormous, steep
mountains and valleys punctuate Fest's landscape. Atop one of
these mountains, the Empire has a top secret Weapons Research
Facility, where experiments are conducted to create new metal
alloys. Among the inhabitants of Fest are a resistance group who
opposes the Empire.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Take your Airspeeder to the right, towards the Shield
Generator. Take out the pair of Turbolasers flanking it, hitting
the Generator and ground troops as well if you get the chance.
Then head left towards the wall, taking out the two Turbolasers
to the left of the wall.
Fly over the wall and you'll find an AT-AT firing at the 3
AT-PT's you must save. Take out the two containers on your way
in, then take out the AT-AT with your tow cable. Once that's
done, race back over the wall and take out the next AT-AT, and
the Shield Generator if you haven't already destroyed it. You can
take out any Tank Droids in that area, but don't worry too much
about them, because the AT-PT's will turn right before that area.
Now head left and take out the third and final AT-AT, but
do it quickly, because the AT-PT's are on their way. When the AT-
AT is down, circle around and take out the swarming Tank Droids;
they might be small, but if you leave them unchecked they'll
destroy the AT-PT's. Listen to your wingmen for the warning about
incoming fighters, TIE Bombers that will rush in and bomb the AT-
PT's. Stay with the AT-PT's until they safely reach the
transport.
After the animation sequence, follow your radar to the
Imperial Installation, but before destroying the large building,
keep flying over it. You'll find a container guarded by two
Turbolasers. Take out the Turbolasers and then the container,
where you'll find the next Bonus, Seeker Proton Torpedoes. Circle
back around and take out the Installation, and your mission is
complete.
*Tips: Time is not a consideration on this mission, but the
required 65 enemies destroyed for your Gold Medal is. Be sure to
take out any containers and Stormtroopers you can during the
course of the mission. Don't waste any time in taking out the AT-
ATs, Tank Droids and TIE Bombers, because you need 7 Friendly
Saves to get the Gold Medal. That means you must save all 3 AT-
PTs, and your wingmen must survive the mission.
3.3.3 Blockade on Chandrila
---------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Escort and Protect the Supply Train
Protect the City
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 5:45
Enemies Destroyed: 35
Accuracy: 20%
Friendly Saves: 4
Bonuses Collected: 1
Default Craft: X-Wing
Optional Craft: A-Wing, V-Wing
Bonus: Advanced Bombs
You and Rogue Squadron will call on the rural agricultural
planet of Chandrila, in the Bormea sector of the Core Worlds.
This sparsely populated, naturally beautiful planet has two large
continents surrounded by oceans, with vast plains covered by
grasses and forests. While the inhabitants of Chandrila are
peace-loving, they have openly supported the Rebels against the
Empire.
Strategy Guide
--------------
For the first half of the mission, stay close to the supply
train, focusing on TIE Bombers, and taking out TIE Interceptors
along the way. Once the animation sequence plays and the train
arrives at the city, watch out for 2 more TIE Bombers that will
make a run for the train.
Once they are taken care of, take out the TIE Bombers that
are attacking the city. The next animation sequence will warn you
of AT-STs attacking 3 Shuttles. Take these out quickly, using
Proton Torpedoes and your blasters. Stick with the Shuttles until
they take off, then take out the 3 TIE Interceptors that will
attack it.
Once the next animation sequence tells you the city is
under attack, turn and head to the other end of the city,
ignoring the bombers for now. There you'll find a stray AT-ST
blasting at 3 small towers. Take out the AT-ST and you'll find
your next Bonus, Advanced Bombs.
When you get the bonus return to the city and take out the
remaining TIE Bombers, and the mission is complete.
*Tips: The key to getting your Gold Medal here is speed, so
after the train arrives at the city, waste no time in taking out
the TIE Bombers and AT-STs. You do need to get 35 enemies, so try
to take out as many TIE Interceptors as you can without taking
your focus off the TIE Bombers.
3.3.4 Raid on Sullust
---------------------
Mission Objectives:
Destroy the Transmitters
Destroy the Capacitor
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 4:00
Enemies Destroyed: 40
Accuracy: 75%
Friendly Saves: 0
Bonuses Collected: 1
Default Craft: Y-Wing
Optional Craft: None
Bonus: Seeker Proton Torpedoes
In this mission, you'll fly through the thick, hot, dark
clouds over Sullust, a bleak, volcanic planet in the Sullust
system. With the planet's surface shrouded in toxic gases, the
millions of native Sullustans have created a large underground
network of caves and cities. These beautiful sub-surface sites
are popular tourist attractions. Sullustans are friendly,
outgoing creatures with jowls, mouse-like ears, and large round
eyes, who are prized as navigators, since they never forget a
path they've traveled.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Your first objective is to take out the transmitters, which
are heavily guarded by Turbolasers and Missile Turrets. Take out
as many targets as possible, following your radar at all times.
Don't worry about conserving bombs here, because the Missile
Turrets will take you out long before you exhaust your supply.
When you reach the transmitters near a landing platform, watch
out for one close to the edge of the volcano, surrounded by
Turbolasers and buildings and containers. The small building to
the right contains the Bonus for this mission, Seeker Proton
Torpedoes.
Once you get the Bonus resume taking out the transmitters.
When you finish and the animation sequence plays, head to the
center of the volcano, where the capacitor floats high overhead.
You must take out the nodes that rest around the center of the
capacitor. Ignore the TIE Interceptors and TIE Fighters flying
about, take out all the nodes, and the mission is complete.
*Tips: Your main focus in the first part of the mission
should be taking out transmitters and Missile Turrets. Don't
waste time with fancy flying or chasing after TIEs, because no
matter what you do missiles will be constantly hitting you. Try
to stay on a constant flight path, and make sure you hit all of
your targets. The main obstacles that keep you from getting your
Gold Medal in this mission are the 4 minutes you have, the 40
enemies you need to destroy, and the required 75% accuracy.
3.3.5 Moff Seerdon's Revenge
----------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Protect the Bacta Containers
Avoid Civilian Casualties
Destroy All Imperial Bunkers, Fighters and Bombers
Locate and Destroy Moff Seerdon
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 6:00
Enemies Destroyed: 45
Accuracy: 30%
Friendly Saves: 55
Bonuses Collected: 1
Default Craft: X-Wing
Optional Craft: A-Wing, V-Wing
Bonus: Cluster Seeker Missiles
The locale of this mission is Thyferra, a foggy, humid
world with thick, tropical rain forests. This Polith system
planet is inhabited by the insect-like Vratix, who developed a
remarkable fluid called bacta. This miracle liquid can heal every
medical condition from a scratch to a life-threatening emergency.
Not surprisingly, bacta has become much sought-after by medical
clinics throughout the galaxy, and by cartels that seek to
control the galactic bacta industry to reap huge profits.
Strategy Guide
--------------
This is possibly the most difficult mission in the game,
and you'll probably have to take many tries at it before you
complete it. Take out the Missile Turret directly in your path,
then bank right and take out the next one. Head left and
eliminate the AT-ST and the Turbolaser, then keep straight and
take out the next Missile Turret, taking out any Imperial
containers along the way.
Be careful not to hit the bacta containers, and don't waste any
time taking out the AT-STs once you see them; their job is to
destroy the bacta, and you need 55 Friendly Saves to get the Gold
Medal.
Now follow your radar and destroy any targets that are in
your way. You must destroy every Imperial target in the mission.
Keep an eye out for the Tie Interceptor that will constantly
follow you and hit you when it can. If you leave the Tie
Interceptors unchecked until the end, at least 4 of them will
attack, and they hit you hard.
At some point you'll come across a lone container next to a
bacta container; destroy the container and inside you'll find a
Bonus, Cluster Seeker Missiles. Once all targets are destroyed,
an animation sequence will play and you'll be up against Moff
Seerdon himself in his Imperial Landing Craft.
This ship is shielded to the max, so you'll have to hit it
several times. The best way to destroy the craft is to hit the
brakes as you approach it, blast it, accelerate away a short
distance, then hit the brakes and turn around and repeat. If you
got the Seeker Proton Torpedoes in the previous mission, use
them; a few choice shots and the Landing Craft will be destroyed
and the mission is complete.
*Tips: Speed is the key to getting your Gold Medal in this
mission, as are the required 55 Friendly Saves. You'll have to be
fast, and take out AT-STs and Missile Turrets as quickly as
possible. Once you complete the mission and are going for medals,
try using the V-Wing for this mission, as the Cluster Missiles
will help you with your speed in completing it.
------------------------------------------------------------
3.4 Chapter IV
------------------------------------------------------------
3.4.1 Battle of Mon Calamari
----------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Destroy the World Devastators
Protect the City
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 7:00
Enemies Destroyed: 24
Accuracy: 25%
Friendly Saves: 87
Bonuses Collected: 0
Default Craft: V-Wing
Optional Craft: X-Wing, A-Wing
Bonus: No
In this all-out encounter with the Empire, Rogue Squadron
will do battle on Mon Calamari, a planet almost completely
covered by water. This marine world is inhabited by two species,
the peaceful Mon Calamari, who live on islands and floating
cities, and the wary Quarren, who live deep beneath the sea and
can breathe both air and water. The Mon Calamari build enormous
starships and warships from their orbiting shipbuilding docks,
and are valuable members of the Rebel Alliance.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Follow your radar and your wingmen to the first World
Devastator, making sure you don't rush in alone; if you do, all
the Devastator's fire will focus on you and you'll go down. Once
it's in range, bombard it immediately with clusters, taking out
the mounted Turbolasers and Missile Turrets scattered along the
top and sides of the large machine.
One of your wingmen will tell you to focus on the Shield
Generator, which is a small sphere located on the top corner of
each Devastator. Once you take this out, make a run at the legs;
take out 2 legs and the Devastator will go down. Now head into
the nearby city and use your clusters on the Tie Fighters. They
are advanced models, and are very fast and manueverable.
Repeat this procedure on the next two Devastators, eliminate the
remaining Tie Fighters, and the mission is complete.
*Tips: Don't be shy about using your Cluster Missiles;
otherwise as soon as you get close to the Devastators, they'll
take you out with their wealth of Turbolasers and Missile
Turrets. Speed is key in this mission, because all 3 World
Devastators are advancing on the Calamari cities. The Tie
Fighters are only a small threat to you, so if you need to, take
out all 3 Devastators first. The Ties are also very fast, easily
a match for your V-Wing, so keep flying out fast and in slow to
take them out.
------------------------------------------------------------
3.5 Bonus Missions
------------------------------------------------------------
3.5.1 Beggar's Canyon
---------------------
Mission Objectives:
Win the Race
Gold Medal Requirements:
Competitor Beaten: Wedge
Default Craft: T-16 Skyhopper
Optional Craft: None
Bonus: None
This mission takes you back to familiar territory, Luke
Skywalker's home planet of Tatooine. You are to race against Zev,
Dack and Wedge through the winding narrow passageways of Beggar's
Canyon. You must choose the best of three routes to take to best
your three companions, avoiding the sharp turns and obstacles
that litter the canyon.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Once you get at least a Bronze Medal on all missions, the
Beggar's Canyon mission opens up. Here you simply race through
Beggar's Canyon in a T-16 Skyhopper against Zev, Dack and Wedge.
To successfully complete the mission, you must at least
beat Zev; beating Dack gets you a Silver and Wedge gets you the
Gold.
If you take the leftmost route, watch out for Sandcrawlers.
If you take the right, when you get close to the end bank left at
the island.
*Tips: You have three choices in which direction to fly,
each with varying levels of difficulty. Make sure you stay low,
because if you fly too high you're cheating and the mission will
end. Also, avoid hitting the walls and other friendly craft, as
your Skyhopper isn't heavily shielded.
3.5.2 The Death Star Trench Run
-------------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Chase the Imperials Through the Trench
Destroy the Power Plant at the End of the Trench
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 2:45
Enemies Destroyed: 30
Accuracy: 70%
Friendly Saves: 0
Bonuses Collected: 0
Default Craft: X-Wing
Optional Craft: None
Bonus: None
In this mission you relive the infamous Death Star Trench
Run from the Battle of Yavin. The trench is full of turbolasers,
big gun towers, and most deadly of all, Tie Fighters. Weave your
way through the obstacle course and try to make your Torpedoes
hit their mark.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Getting at least a Silver Medal in all previous missions,
including Beggar's Canyon, will open up this mission. Accelerate
all the way through the trench, taking out Turbolasers and Tie
Fighters along the way. You'll be under heavy fire from all
sides, so move quickly and hit your targets.
The best way to avoid enemy fire is speed; whenever you
can't see a target (Turbolasers and Big Gun Towers only; don't
worry about the TIEs) close the S-foils and accelerate.
Once you round a corner there will be more and more
obstacles protruding from the ground and the walls, which you can
use to your advantage to avoid enemy fire and hit Turbolasers.
The exhaust port at the end is surrounded by Turbolasers
and Big Gun Towers, so take out as many as you can. If you don't,
your Seeker Photon Torpedoes will lock onto them rather than the
port, and you'll have to turn and make another run.
Once the torpedo hits its mark, the mission is complete.
*Tips: You'll find that getting a Gold Medal in this
mission is close to impossible, as you need to complete it in
2:45 with 30 enemies destroyed and 70% accuracy. Fly fast and
fire only when you're sure your target is in your sights.
3.5.3 The Battle of Hoth
------------------------
Mission Objectives:
Protect the Rebel Transports
Protect the Shield Generator
Destroy Imperial AT-STs
Destroy Imperial AT-ATs
Gold Medal Requirements:
Completion Time: 4:25
Enemies Destroyed: 18
Accuracy: 70%
Friendly Saves: 0
Bonuses Collected: 0
Default Craft: Airspeeder
Optional Craft: None
Bonus: None
This mission puts you in an airspeeder over the snowy world
of Hoth. Your goal: protect the shield generator and the Rebel
transports from the onslaught of Imperial AT-ATs, AT-STs, and
probe droids.
Strategy Guide
--------------
Getting Gold Medals in all previous missions opens this
level up. The mission starts with you coming head-to-head with a
swarm of Probe Droids. Be swift in taking them out, and after the
animation sequence, follow your radar and save Rogue 10, who is
down and under attack by 3 AT-STs. Slow down and blast them.
Once they're gone, head towards the shield generator. First
take out the 2 AT-STs. Then you'll see 3 AT-ATs; 1 in the right
canyon and 2 in the left. Ignore the one on the right for now and
head for the pair advancing quickly on the shield generator, who
are being led by a pair of AT-ST's. Ignore the AT-STs for now,
and take out the 2 AT-ATs with your tow cable. Then fly around
and quickly eliminate the AT-STs.
Now for the single remaining AT-AT. Fly over the nearby
hill and head for the legs, and take him out. Then take out the
AT-ST that is advancing on the generator. Once all armored
transports are gone, your mission is complete.
*Tips: The key to getting the Gold Medal in this mission is
speed; waste no time in taking down the walkers. If you're good,
you'll finish the mission in plenty of time and the Gold Medal is
yours.

------------------------------------------------------------
4.1 Primary Weapon - Blaster Cannon
------------------------------------------------------------
Also known as a laser cannon, this is the most widely used
weapon in the galaxy. It repeatedly fires bolts of coherent
light, an intense energy that inflicts significant damage. Also
comes in an advanced version (see 5.5).
Most craft in Rogue Squadron are armed with blaster cannons
as their primary weapon. You can fire individual shots, or hold
for continuous fire. You can cycle through link modes to fire
blasters separately, two together, or in the cases of the X-Wing
and TIE Interceptor, all four at once. Airspeeders cannot link,
and secondary weapons cannot be linked.
The X-Wing and Y-Wing are also armed with Ion Cannons,
accessed by hitting the Special button.
------------------------------------------------------------
4.2 Secondary Weapons
------------------------------------------------------------
4.2.1 Proton Torpedo
--------------------
A proton torpedo is armed with a proton-scattering energy
warhead that inflicts heavier damage than an ordinary missile.
There is also an advanced version (see 5.1) and a seeking version
that allows it to follow a moving target (see 5.6 & 5.8).
4.2.2 Concussion Missile
------------------------
When this sub-lightspeed projectile hits home, it creates
powerful shock waves that can penetrate even the heaviest armor
to obliterate its target. These air-to-air and air-to-ground
weapons are most effective against stationary targets. A
concussion missile will travel in a straight line once it's
fired, and can only be fired one at a time. These are not as
powerful as protons, and seeking versions are available (see
5.4).
4.2.3 Cluster Missile
--------------------
Each of these weapons breaks apart into five smaller
warheads shortly after launch. This results in a "spread" effect
that increases the chances of hitting a target or inflicting more
damage. A seeking version is available (see 5.8).
4.2.4 Bombs
-----------
Only the Y-Wing is armed with these destructive weapons, which
can be dropped on ground targets. They have a large blast radius,
to inflict heavy damage over a wide area. Bombs can damage your
own craft if dropped at a low altitude. An advanced version is
available (see 5.3).
4.2.5 Tow Cable
---------------
Airspeeders are fitted with a harpoon gun that launches a
high-powered, barbed projectile attached to a retractable
flexisteel tow cable.

* 5. ADVANCED WEAPONS & LOCATIONS *
************************************************************
Throughout the game there will be secret challenges for
discovering new weapon technologies. These technologies will
improve the effectiveness of either the primary or secondary
weapons system. After discovering a new technology, the primary
or secondary weapon system will automatically be upgraded on all
appropriate craft, and becomes available after the current
mission is completed.
------------------------------------------------------------
5.1 Advanced Proton Torpedoes
------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Defection at Corellia
In the first or second city heading back from the Tech
Center, the ground in the middle of the city is a distinctly
brighter shade of blue than the rest. Next to a pair of identical
short, long buildings, lies the Bonus. Hit the brakes, swoop
down, pick it up, then pull up and over the buildings.
------------------------------------------------------------
5.2 Advanced Shielding
------------------------------------------------------------
Location: The Jade Moon
At the beginning of the mission, keep an eye out on your
left for a trench which you can see on your radar distinctly.
Head down the trench, keeping low as instructed. Take out the
single Turbolaser that sits at a Y in the trench, then make a
left.
Follow it down until you find a large building, but don't
rush in; first take out the Missile Turret around the corner on
the right. Once that's done, torpedo the building and pick up the
mission's Bonus.
------------------------------------------------------------
5.3 Advanced Bombs
------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Imperial Construction Yards
Find an AT-AT with a landing platform behind it. Fly past
it, where you'll find another landing platform where an Imperial
Shuttle is about to take off. A few choice shots will take out
the Shuttle, then eliminate the Turbolaser on the ridge above.
While taking out ground targets here, keep an eye out for a round
container in the corner; here you will find the mission's Bonus.
------------------------------------------------------------
5.4 Seeker Missiles
------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Prisons of Kessel
At the second prison that Madine's shuttle goes to, look
around the surrounding hills for a small nook, where you'll see a
Missile Turret and a container. Destroy the Turret and then the
container, inside which you'll find the Bonus.
------------------------------------------------------------
5.5 Advanced Lasers
------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Battle Above Taloraan
Once you reach the floating city, watch out for a TIE
Interceptor, whose sole purpose is to knock you out of the sky.
When that's taken care of, head for the city while applying the
brakes, aiming for the center. Here you'll find the next Bonus.
You'll have to drop down, pick it up, then quickly pull up to
avoid the surrounding buildings.
------------------------------------------------------------
5.6 Seeker Proton Torpedoes
------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Escape from Fest
Find the Imperial Installation, but before destroying the
large building, keep flying over it. You'll find a container
guarded by two Turbolasers. Take out the Turbolasers and then the
container, where you'll find the next Bonus.
------------------------------------------------------------
5.7 Advanced Bombs
------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Blockade on Chandrila
Once you destroy the 6 AT-ST's attacking the shuttles and
an animation sequence tells you the city is under attack, turn
and head to the other end of the city, ignoring the bombers for
now. There you'll find a stray AT-ST blasting at 3 small towers.
Take out the AT-ST and you'll find the Bonus.
------------------------------------------------------------
5.8 Seeker Proton Torpedoes
------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Raid on Sullust
When you reach the transmitters near a landing platform, watch
out for one close to the edge of the volcano, surrounded by
Turbolasers and buildings and containers. The small building to
the right contains the Bonus for this mission.
------------------------------------------------------------
5.9 Cluster Seeker Missiles
------------------------------------------------------------
Location: Moff Seerdon's Revenge
At some point you'll come across a lone container next to a
bacta container; destroy the container and inside you'll find the
Bonus.

* 6. PASSCODES *
************************************************************
ACE
This code is strictly for the brave. It makes your craft's
shields weaker, meaning that after a few hits you're history.
BLAMEUS
Jumps you to a screen showing the game's development team, with a few familiar
faces lurking about with them.
CHICKEN
Enter this code and when you start the game, you'll find yourself
commanding an AT-ST, with several nearby Imperial targets. Play
with your controller configurations to make it walk and shoot.
Once you're destroyed, that's it. You must enter the code each
time you want to do this.
CREDITS
Enter this code and you'll get the credits that play when you
finish Chapter IV. No big deal, but they look identical to the
credits from the films.
DEADDACK
Opens up all levels, including Bonus Levels.
DIRECTOR
Enter this code and a new SHOWROOM option appears in the Options
menu. Go there and you'll get to see all of the game's craft, as
well as 2 options, CONCERT HALL and AT THE MOVIES. This code
enables the movies feature, and will play all of the cutscenes
from the game.
FARMBOY
Punch this one in, and you can fly the Millenium Falcon on most
missions. I don't know which is better, the fact that the
voiceover rips on the Falcon on the Select Your Craft screen, or
that when the ship gets hit Luke says "Chewie's not gonna be
happy."
HARDROCK
Enter this code and get to the main screen with Luke and his X-
Wing. After a while, he turns into a bearded guy (I haven't seen
it yet) who is as yet unidentified. If you know who it is, e-mail
me.
IGIVEUP
One of the better codes, this one gives you unlimited lives.
Unlike other games, you can still gain medals and proceed in the
game with the code on.
KOELSCH
Enter this code in and you can fly as a 1969 Buick Electra 225
Convertible. Replaces the V-Wing in the Select Your Craft Screen.
Koelsch is the favorite brand of beer of the developers at Factor 5,
and the car is owned by staff member Rudolf Stember.
MAESTRO
Like the DIRECTOR code, this enables the SHOWROOM option, and
then enables the CONCERT HALL item. Here you can scroll through
and listen to all of the music from the game.
RADAR
As the name implies, this code will improve on your radar
technology. Higher targets will appear brighter then the lower
ones.
TIEDUP
Enter this code and you can fly the Imperial TIE Interceptor. You
must have entered the FARMBOY code first, then get the Millenium
Falcon on your Select Your Craft screen, and push UP on your
control stick. The view will pan around the Falcon and you'll
have the TIE Interceptor.
TOUGHGUY
Using this code will boost your shield strength and give you full
power-ups.

* 7. TUTORIALS *
************************************************************
------------------------------------------------------------
7.1 Defeat the AT-ATs
------------------------------------------------------------
You CAN beat these bad boys by blasting them, but it takes
forever and you'll never get a medal if you do. You've got to use
your tow cables.
Get in close, running alongside the legs. When you get
close enough, Luke will say "Activate harpoon" if he can, at
which point you fire the harpoon ( LEFT C if you're on the
default Luke Controller Settings). Now the trick is to circle the
walker and stay as CLOSE as you can without running into the
legs.
The way I do it is I keep accelerating throughout (A BUTTON), but
I hit the brakes (Z BUTTON) whenever I turn. Keep that up for
three rotations around the walker, and down he goes. Note that if
you drift too far from the legs, the harpoon will fall away, and
you'll have to try again. I'm assuming this is what's happening
to a lot of people, so keep as close as you can. A good way make
sure you're close is to stay low, so that you can see your shadow
on the ground. Keep the shadow close to the walker's feet as you
circle, and you're good to go.
------------------------------------------------------------
7.2 Defeat the Hover Train
------------------------------------------------------------
This is probably the easiest of any targets to take out in
the game, and appears in the Rescue on Kessel mission. You must
use your Ion Cannons, which are your Secondary Weapon for this
mission. Just put the crosshairs on the train, fire the Ions
(LEFT C) continuously, and you'll find that each car you hit
crackles with blue static, indicating that it is disabled. It's a
good idea to hit the armed cars first, or they'll blast you. Do
this with all the cars, the train will stop, and the mission is
complete.
------------------------------------------------------------
7.3 Missile Turrets
------------------------------------------------------------
To take out the missile turrets without getting pummelled by
missiles, aim for the top of the turrets where the missiles
launch out of. Move the crosshairs back and forth as you fire,
and you'll be able to take out the missiles before they get to
you. Only your blasters can hit the missiles; cluster seekers and
seeker photons won't work.
------------------------------------------------------------
7.4 Flying Y-Wing Missions
------------------------------------------------------------
The best way to fly these bombing missions is to switch to
cockpit view. When you hit your secondary weapon (bombs) the
cockpit disappears and you get a full view of the area below you,
with the bomb's crosshairs skimming the surface. Once you drop
one, you have a second or two before it switches back, so on
bombing runs keep your bombs armed when flying over close
multiple targets. Also, try to aim between close objects; with a
little skill, you'll be able to take out several targets with a
single bomb.
